Animals
Well, do not expect exotic species, we didn't visit any natural park, so I have only a small number of semi-domestic animals shots. The only wildlife we were able to see was antelopes (or gazelles? I'm not an expert...) in the desertic lands between Bikaner and Jaisalmer. Curios sight for us, not for the people living here, are the monkeys. They are mainly of two species, the common langur (Presbytes entellus) and the Rhesus monkey (Macaca mulatta, yes, the one which was used to discover the RH factor in human blood). The Langur is expecially venerated by Hindu people because it is the personification of Hanuman, one of the most venerated gods of the Hindu Olympus, and it is quite common sight in many Temples, we met a big Langur community in Sikandra, Akbar Tomb complex. Camels (well, you have the "Dromedary" word, as in italian, to mean the one-hump animals, while "camel" should be the two-humped beasts, but noone uses this word, so I'll call them camels) are a quite common sight in Rajasthan, they are used as draught animals to pull those two-wheel carts you can see in the pictures, used to carry heavy loads around. In Bikaner there's a state-run Camel breeding farm to study this kind of animals. Holy cows are also a common sight in the streets all around India, even if in some towns they are banned. Pigs are small, furry and black, something in between our domestic pigs and wild boars. A favourite of our trips in hot countries is the geckos. Initially Maddalena was very scared by geckos, but she is becoming more used to meet them. I like them cause they eat mosquitoes which would otherwise eat our blood! Absent: cats. We didn't see a single cat in our trip... where are they? India has no cats? (maybe that's why you can see lotsa rats, if you need pictures pls see the Deshnoke Temple shots)
